600 Year old farm house
2006-11-04
They have a 600 year old farm house on the estate, with horses and a place for wood crafts.
Walls are made of rock stone and more then a 0.5 m thick.
I understood from the owner he intends to organize wood craft courses in the future, for travellers interested in a hobby-holiday combi.

Chateau de Mont Cru

Allieres-South of France.
In the middle of nowhere, close to Andorra we had a great time in Allieres-a sleepy little village of some 60+ people or so, in the Midi-Pyrenees.
We stayed at the Chateau De Montcru (1804), a castle estate with the owner living at the castle.
They have a Gîte for the guests and a 600 year old farm house that the owner was restoring at the time we stayed there.
Imagine waking up with a bit of fresh mountain air and the Mediterranean sun in your face and looking at a valley with some scattered farm houses-what more can you ask for.
From here we discovered the Pyrenees following the remote quiet tracks you can do here. So beautiful and for those who want to escape the crowded places of Europe, this is definitely a place to be. After a tiring day in the mountains, we relaxed at the pool-what luxury- with a glass of French wine (or two-ish… kind of forgot).
From here we visited Andorra-the tax haven in the Pyrenees. Nice, real nice if you like shopping, but I will cover that in one of my next posts.
All in all it: A great spot !
