About Gambia
The Gambia is almost an enclave of Senegal. It is the smallest country on the African continent, dominated by the river Gambia that runs through the middle of the country with flood plains flanked by low hills. On the stretch of the Atlantic coast Gambia has developed some good beach resorts like Bakau, Fajara, Kotu and Kololi that are a major destination for tourist.
Juffure is one of the best known villages in Africa when it became world famous after the publication of "Roots", describing how Kunta Kinte was captured here and taken as a slave to America.
