Tripoli is the capital and the largest city of Libya. The city lies between the desert and a bay of the Mediterranean Sea and is the main port of Libya and seat of the national government. The city has many archeological sites dating back as far as the 7th century BCE when the city was founded. The old walled city of Tripoli, the Medina dates back to in the Roman period.
