About Mali

Mali is mostly flat, rising to rolling northern plains covered by sand, with savanna around the Niger River in the south, and rugged hills of the Air Massif and Djado Plateau lie in the northeast. It consists of three natural zones: the southern, cultivated Sudanese; the central, semiarid Sahelian; and the northern, arid Saharan. Most of the country lies in the Sahara Desert.

The old cities like Gao, Djenne, Segou, Mopti and Timbuktu, are exciting travel destinations for travellers interested in pre-colonial North-African civilization.
