Rabat is the capital of the Morocco and located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. Rabat is both an ancient city with reminders from all periods of Moroccan history and also a modern city that is both a commercial and administrative centre  as well as an important tourist destination. Rabat is a good start to explore Morocco.

  • The Necropolis of Chellah or Chella is a complex of ancient and medieval ruins that lie on the outskirts of the Rabat. Some of these go back to the days of the The Phoenicians and the Carthaginians and later the Romans when the town was called Sala Colonia. The site was abandoned in 1154 and later became a necropolis with several monuments built in the mid-14th century

  • The medina of Salé connected to Rabat by a bridge, has the character of a small Islamic town with their shady souks and quiet streets.

  • Train services to Casablanca in the southwest and Meknes in the northeast
