About Mozambique
The country is located on the continent's largest coastal plain with azure waters, coral reefs and subtropical islands. The sandy beaches of Mozambique are excellent for scuba divers, fishermen, sailors and beach lovers, with its clear blue waters and cheap, fresh seafood. Popular destinations are Tofo beach with good backpacker lodging and camping facilities, Ponta do Ouro an excellent dive spot, and the Bazaruto Archipelago a beautiful island resort geared to high-end tourism. The border with Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi is covered by the mountain range Inyanga with peaks reaching 2500 m. The country is divided by the famous Zambezi River.

Mozambique has numerous ethnic groups and subgroups with diverse languages, dialects, cultures and histories. The Makua are the dominant group in the north, the Sena and Ndau are prominent in the Zambezi valley, and the Shangaan dominate in the south. The people of Mozambique have largely retained their indigenous culture, with some highly developed wood sculpture.
