The Republic of Congo consists of a narrow low-lying coastal plain with sandy beaches, broken by lagoons, vast areas of grassland and swamps and further inland the highlands and rainforests.
Brazzaville is the capital of the Republic of the Congo and is located on the Congo River. Although it has frequently been a staging ground for regional conflicts, it is a nice and laid back city. Pointe-Noire is the main town on the coast with nice beaches. The Gorges of Diosso have some spectacular cliffs that are worth while a visit.
