About Reunion
The island of Reunion is is an overseas department and region of France, located in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar, with some of beautifull beaches. It is mostly rugged, mountainous with dramatic scenery. The island is a volcanic hotspot and has an active volcano, Piton de la Fournaise (2611 m) which has erupted many times with lava flowing sometimes into the sea, closing roads and damaging buildings.

Reunion's culture reflect the story of its settlement. French colonized the island in the 1640s. Slaves from Madagascar and mainland Africa were brought and laters labourers from south and east Asia joined.
