Saint Helena is a British oversees territory, mostly known as the place where Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled from 1815 until his death in 1821. The two sites where Napoleon lived as well as the valley where he was buried, are still French territory. Saint Helena has a specific habitat that harbors at least 40 species of plants unknown anywhere else in the world.
Jamestown is the capital of Saint Helena. It was founded in 1659 by the East India Company. The town's most prominent feature is Jacob's Ladder with 699 steps, built in 1829 to connect Jamestown to the post on Ladder Hill.
