About Nepal

Nepal: the country where Buddha reputedly was born. With eight of the top ten highest mountains in the world located in country, among which Mount Everest at 8,850 m, Nepal has a spectacular mountain scenery and wildlife. Its ancient Buddhist culture and the great possibilities for hiking and rafting, make Nepal a favourite destination for adventurous travellers.

The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu, an inspiring city packed with many Buddhist and Hindu temples and palaces, mostly dating from the 17th century.

Good to know

Nepal is the only official Hindu state in the world. Nepalese culture has been largely shaped by Indian culture to the south and Tibetan to the north. Today Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, a situation made worse by the on-going Maoist rebellion.
