About Sri Lanka
The tropical island of Sri Lanka has been a favourite destination for travellers for centuries. Travellers are attracted by its palm-fringed beaches and diverse landscapes of flat-to-rolling coastal plains, coconut plantations, paddy fields, dense rainforests and mountains in the south central part such as Adam's Peak and Pidurutalagala at 2,524 m. There are several national parks in Sri Lanka, such as Ruhunu and Wilpattu, with wild elephant herdes, which have excellent possibilities to stay over-night.
One of the most popular tourist destinations is Sigiriyais, an archeological site in North Central Sri Lanka that contains the ruins of an ancient palace complex, built during the reign of King Kasyapa (477 - 495 AD). It is one of the 7 world heritage sites in Sri Lanka.
