About Taiwan
Taiwan is one of the most beautiful islands in the Pacific. The island consists mostly of rugged mountains ranging from the northern to the southern tip of the island with the Yu Shanat at 3,952 meters as the highest peak. Its breathtaking scenery with waterfalls, lakes, hot springs and misty hillsides, and cultural heritage of pagodas and templesmake Taiwan well worth a visit.
One of Taiwan's greatest attractions is the National Palace Museum in Taipei, with a collection of more than 650,000 pieces of Chinese bronze, jade, calligraphy, painting and porcelain from ancient the Forbidden City in Bejing. The collection, estimated to be one-tenth of China's cultural treasures, is so extensive that only 1 percent is on display at any time.
