About Tashkent
Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan and a modern, cosmopolitan, Soviet style city in Central Asia, situated on the foothills of the western Tien Shan, in the Chirchik River Valley. Unfortunately there is very little left that reminds of the once important city on the famous Silk Road. Today, Tashkent is a major industrial and cultural center in the region with numerous museums and Soviet-era monuments.
