About Port Of Spain

Port of Spain is the capitol of Trinidad and Tobago and a very cosmopolitan city. It is the centre of Trinidad's rich cultural life, has both mountain and sea views, and a downtown area between Independence Square and the Queens Park Savannah, where you will find good shopping facilities and great food, despite its run-down appearance. Port of Spain is also home to steel drums, calypso music and the (in)famous carnival.

  • Weather:  Port-of-Spain has a seasonal tropical climate with a wet season lasting from June to December and a dry season lasting from January to May.   • Nearest airport: PIARCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 25km from capital Port of Spain (tel nr.    868 669 5196).
  • Ferries between Trinidad and Tobago (tel 868/625-4906 or 623-2901)
  • BWIA and Tobago Express fly between Trinidad and Tobago
  • Highways-Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (east), Lady Young Road (north).The Eastern Main Road runs parallel to the highway and enters the city at the eastern end of Independence Square. Traffic from the west enters the city through the Western Main Road and the Audrey Jeffers Highway.
