About Croatia
Croatia is a beautiful country with a well developed tourist industry along the coastline. The country shows a great diversity in landscapes with plains, lakes and rolling hills in the continental north, densely wooded mountains in the Dinaric Alps, but is mostly known for its dramatic rocky Dalmatian coastlines with 1,185 islands, islets and reefs.
Croatia has a rich legacy of historic monuments from the Mediterranean culture, Roman times and the Early Middle Ages but also has numerous prehistoric sites. Zagreb the capital of Croatia on the River Sava, Dubrovnik with its medieval walls and palaces and Split founded by the Roman Emperor Diocletian, are filled with remnants of its rich history.
