About Greece

Greece mainland at the southern end of the Balkans is separated by Istmus of Corinth from the Peloponnesus peninsula and thousands of islands, including Crete, Rhodes, Euboea and the Dodecanese and Cycladic groups of the Aegean Sea. Most of Greece consists of mountains or hills,of which Mount Olympus is most famous.

Greece is the birth place and foundation of the ancient European cultures, with its many ruins and monuments scattered all over the country as reminders of the glorious beginning. Athens with the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Theatre of Dionysus, the National Archaeological Museum is a true treasure of antiquities. Then there is the city of Thessaloniki with its many monuments of the Byzantine times.
