About Skopje
Skopje is the capital of Macedonia, the political, economic and cultural centre of the country, built on both sides of the River Vardar. Today Skopje is a modern city, located on a major north-south Balkan route between Belgrade and Athens that attracts many tourists. After the destruction of the devastating earthquake in 1963, the city has been rebuilt and today Skopje looks and feels like a new city.
