About Romania

Romania is the largest of the Balkan countries. It has some dramatic mountain scenery and a coastline on the Black Sea with white sandy beaches. Its main destinations include the Black Sea coastal towns like Mamaia, Eforie, Saturn and Mangalia ideal for spending a family holiday; the forested Carpathian Mountains that lend themself for skiing, camping and hiking; Transylvania with its spa towns and medieval churches and castles such as the famous Bran Castle, which inspired Bram Stoker’s novel 'Dracula'; and the Danube Delta, Europe's best preserved delta and on the World Heritage Sites list with its numerous lakes and marshes, a biosphere where millions of birds from different places of Earth come to forage and reproduce.

Bucharest is the capital of Romaina, located on the Dambovita river, and is perhaps best known for its Palace of the Parliament that was built by the communist dictator Ceausescu. The huge building with 1,100 rooms, 100m lobby, and four underground levels including an enormous nuclear bunker, is host of the Museum of Contemporary Art. The many of the churches from Bucharest like the Church of St.Gheorghe and Cretulescu Church are impressive witnesses of the simple yet colourfull  Romanian architectural style.
