About Bucharest
Bucharest is the capital and the most important industrial and commercial centre of Romania. It is located in the southeast of the country on the banks of the Dâmboviţa River. Much of its former charm did not survive the communist era and today’s city is dominated by communist-era buildings.

- Taxis-for safety reasons make sure that any taxi you get in to clearly displays the name and telephone number of the company it belongs to
- Metro-clean, reliable, safe and cheap- covers the city quite extensively
- Trams, Buses & Trolleybuses are crowded at peak hours
- New light rail network
Inbound transport
- Nearest airport: Otopeni International Airport-a 20 km from downtown. Calling for a taxi will result in cheaper fares than the taxis waiting outside the airport. Baneasa Airport which is only 10km from downtown is used for domestic flights.
- Train: There are four types-Personal, Acelerat, Rapid and InterCity. Travelers are advised to use the InterCity, although services are only to major cities and few.
