About Ukraine
Ukrain has a landscape of rich steppes and plateaus, crossed by rivers such as the Dnieper, Seversky Donets, Dniester and the Southern Bug. To the southwest the Danube delta forms the border with Romania. The Black Sea has breathtaking views and many health resorts. The Carpathian Mountains in the west show some rugged landscapes with Hora Hoverla as the highest point at 2,061 m.
Kiev is one of the most ancient and important cities of the region with many historical and architectural landmarks. Today, Kiev is a modern and green city with over 2.5 million inhabitants.The center of Kiev has been restored and redecorated, especially Khreschatyk and Independence Square.The famous Caves Monastery is the focal point of the early Orthodox church. Many historic squares of Kiev, such as Andryivskyi Uzviz, have become popular street vendor locations, where one can buy traditional Ukrainian art, books and jewellery.
