About Greenland
The world's largest island, Greenland is about 81% ice-capped and a place of wild and rugged scenery. The Northern Lights can be seen most of the year. Vikings reached the island in the 10th century and Danish colonization began in the 18th century. All towns and settlements of Greenland today are situated along the ice-free coast, with the population being concentrated along the Western coast.
Greenland is becoming more attractive to tourists with its dog racing, snow scooters, ice fishing, hiking, and cross country racing.
