About Saint-Pierre
Saint-Pierre is the capital of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and with its 5,600 inhabitants mainly from Basque, Breton, Normand or Acadian descent, it covers nearly 80% of the inhabitants of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Residents feel a close affinity with European French issues and give you a sense of Europe.
The town is situated on the north side of a harbour, which faces the Atlantic Ocean, on the island's east coast. The mouth of the harbour is guarded by Ile aux Marins, a small chain of islands. Close by the harbour lies the General Charles de Gaulle Square, the cathedral and the Pointe aux Canons Lighthouse.

- The weather is maritime and changeable, from moments of brilliant sunshine to thick fog, to showers. Summer days range from cool to hot with a normal temperature of 16° C . The normal annual rainfall is above 1000 mm and the normal annual snowfall is 300 cm. In June and early July, fog is common and should be expected, whereas August and September are sunny, warm and sometimes windy. Winter snowfalls and snow storms are spectacular and worth witnessing.
- The weather can be quite unpredictable. A waterproof rain jacket is highly recommended and a warm sweater, as well as a warm hat, especially when going out to sea. When taking the hiking trails be sure to take rubber boots.

- Or take a transatlantic cruise from Holland America Line
