About Georgia
Georgia is a Southern state of the United States with in the north the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachians, in the centre foothills and in the south flat continental coastal plains. Georgia's nicknames include Peach State and Empire State of the South. Probably best known is the Ray Charles song "Georgia on My Mind" of Hoagy Carmichael, which today is the state song, symbolizing its move away from segregation and racism.

- The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National historic site-located in the centre of black Atlanta, two blocks from the famous Ebenezer Baptist Church
- The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge-swamps drained by the Suwannee and St. Marys rivers, with abundant wildlife
- Chattahoochee National Forest with its river valley offers great opportunities for leisure rafting, fishing, hiking and camping
- Andersonville Prison Park and National Cemetery-Andersonville was the largest Confederate military prison during the American Civil War
- The Little White House at Warm Springs where Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt died
- Sea Islands-a chain of more than 100 islands off the Atlantic coast, some of which remain uninhabited; others are resorts and wildlife sanctuaries.
- The Confederate Memorial at Stone Mountain with the figures of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Jefferson Davis carved of Stone Mountain
- Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
- Cumberland Island National Seashore with marshes, mud flats and tidal creeks, well known for its dune fields, maritime forests and salt marshes.

- If you are in a hurry take the Interstate Highways: I 16, I 516, I 20, I 520, I 59, I 24, I 75, I 475, I 575, I 85, I 185, I 985, I 95 and around Atlanta the I 285
- If not try some of the Georgia scenic byways
- Russell-Brasstown National Scenic Byway-through pleasant timberland. The byway takes you to the top of Brasstown Bald (Georgia's tallest mountain) and numerous waterfalls and secluded valleys. You can enjoy a good hiking trails and scenic wonders like in the Tray Mountain Wilderness, the Anna Ruby Falls, the Hidden Creek, the Raven Cliff Falls or State parks like Unicoi with cottages and campgrounds
- Ridge and Valley Scenic Byway-a 80 km loop trough farmland takes you to houses of the early settlers, the former homeland of the native Cherokee Indian and offers great opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking to for instance Johns Mountain Overlook or to the Keown Falls Scenic Area.
- South Fulton Scenic Byway-a 50 km loop in south Fulton County through rolling hills and historic communities and farmhouses. The byway takes you to Cochran Mill Park, Cochran Mill Nature Centre and the nearby Chattahoochee River.
