About Montana

Montana's vast open place is home to buffalo, elk, deer and horses roaming the emptiness of its sweeping fields. This is a state for the great outdoor activities: rafting, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, hunting, fishing and skiing. Montana has the largest migratory elk herd in the nation, the largest breeding population of trumpeter swans, more golden eagles than anywhere else in the USA, the largest grizzly bear population in the lower 48 states, and many buffalo, moose, deer, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and black bear in their natural environment. The most visited place in Montana is Glacier National Park, known as the crown jewel of the continent. It lies along Montana's northern border and adjoins Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, forming the world's first International Peace Park.
