About New Jersey

New Jersey is the most densely populated state of the United States and is part of the Mid-Atlantic region. New Jersey is bordered on the north and northeast by New York, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and in the west by the Delaware River. North Jersey is within New York City's general sphere of influence, with many of its residents commuting into the city for work. The state's official nickname is the "Garden State".

Getting Around

  • If you are in a hurry take the Interstate Highways: I 78, I 80, I 287, I 195 and the I 295 or the Garden State Parkway
  • If not try some of the New Jersey scenic byways
    • The New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route extends along coastal New Jersey, from Perth Amboy to Cape May on the Atlantic coast, and west along the Delaware Bay from Cape May to the Delaware Memorial Bridge at Deepwater
    • Millstone River Valley Scenic Byway in the narrow Millstone River Valley takes you to attractions such as the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park
