About North Dakota
North Dakota is the most rural of all the states in the USA, with farms covering more than 90% of the land. This onetime home to buffalo and famous Blackfeet, Cheyenne, Cree, Crow, Mandan and Sioux Indians, now is famed for the Badlands, a 150 sq km land formed by centuries of river erosion, with 20 state parks and recreation areas, offering wide open spaces ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, skiing or snowmobiling.

Highlights
- Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the colorful North Dakota badlands, home to the bison, prairie dog and elk. The park offers many scenic drives and excellent opportunities for country hiking and camping. Mind you conditions are harsh, with little or no natural water and summer temperatures above 35°C and winter temperatures below -30 °C.

- National Grasslands with immense open prairies like the Little Missouri National Grasslands or the Sheyenne National Grasslands provide outstanding hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities
- The town of Rugby with the Pioneer Village Museum, is the geographical center of North America
- Devils Lake is the largest natural body of water in North Dakota with a reputation of being the Perch Capital of the World
- The Dakota Dinosaur Museum in Dickinson with twelve full scale dinosaurs, thousands of fossils and a complete Triceratops and Edmontosaurus

- Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway-this 100km winding tour takes you attractions as the Valley City Historic Bridges Tour and the Valley of the Sheyenne.
- Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit-a 22 km loop through the colorful North Dakota Badlands, open prairie and the Little Missouri River
- Killdeer Mountain Four Bears Scenic Byway-a 102 km trip through one of the most scenic areas of western North Dakota through the Killdeer Mountains
- Turtle Mountain Byway-traveling through the Turtle Mountains
- Standing Rock Historical Scenic Byway takes you to Sitting Bull’s Burial Site
- Sakakawea Scenic Byway from Washburn to Stanton overlooking the majestic Missouri River
- The Native American Scenic Byway crosses four Sioux Indian Reservations with sacred sites commemorating the heritage of the Sioux Nation
- The Enchanted Highway with the folk art figures along the Interstate-94
