About Ohio
Ohio is an East North Central State of the United States. In the north, Ohio has a 500 km coastline with Lake Erie. The south border is defined by the Ohio River. Much of Ohio consists of glaciated plains, with in the northwest the Great Black Swamp and east of that the glaciated Allegheny Plateau. The rugged south-eastern "Appalachian Counties", have a distinct coal mining legacy with a lower economic standard than the rest of Ohio. The forested south of Ohio provides good hiking opportunities.
