About Texas
Texas or the Lone Star State, is a state with enormous natural resources (oil, sulfur, salt, helium, asphalt, graphite, bromine, natural gas), a major agricultural state (cattle, sheep, and cotton) and an industrial giant. Texas is cattle country with more land farmed here than in any other state in the USA, with an estimated cattle population of 16 million.
Chemicals, oil refining, food processing, machinery, and transportation equipment are among the major Texas manufacturing industries. Texas possesses three of the top ten most populous cities in the United States: Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.

- The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston
- The Alamo in San Antonio where Texas defenders fell to Mexican General Santa Anna, is considered the cradle of Texas liberty. This is where the phrase Remember the Alamo originated. While is San Antonio a must visit is the San Antonio Riverwalk (also known as the Paseo del Rio) the pedestrian street, one level down from the automobile street lined with restaurants and shops, taking you to such sites as Alamo Plaza, Hemisfair Park and Tower Life Building.
- Big Bend National Park-one of the largest national parks, home to canyons, desert and mountains.
- Caprock Canyons State Park, 160 km southeast of Amarillo in Briscoe County, home of the official Texas State Bison Herd. The park with its scenic canyons offers camping facilities, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, boating and fishing opportunities. Some of the trails are very difficult and only recommended for the experienced equestrian and mountain bike riders.

- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport between Dallas and Fort Worth is the largest airport in state, the second largest in the United States, and third largest in the world.
