About Vermont

Vermont is a U.S. state located in New England that borders the Canadian province of Quebec. Vermont is notable for the Green Mountains in the west and Lake Champlain in the northwest, which is the sixth-largest body of fresh water in the United States. Vermont has many famous ski areas like Stowe, Killington, Mt. Snow, Okemo, Jay Peak, and Sugarbush. The state is an attractive hunting and fishing place, and is famous for its explosion of red, orange and gold foliage displayed on the sugar maple when colder weather sets in.

Getting Around

  • If you are in a hurry take the Interstate Highways: I-89 and the I-91
  • If not try some of the Vermont scenic byways
    • Connecticut River Byway-takes you to many historic sites and museums such as Vermont's Rockingham Meeting House or the Fairbanks Museum In St. Johnsbury featuring an impressive planetarium. The Connecticut River reflects the outlines of the White and Green Mountains.
    • Lake Champlain Byway–circling Lake Champlain
    • Molly Stark Trail-a byway Through the Green Mountains
    • Route 108, The Smuggler's Notch Road-this scenic route takes you popular rock climbing and hiking places.
    • Route 125, The Middlebury Gap Road-with hiking, biking, camping and other outdoor activities in the national forest along the byway
    • Route 131, Cavendish Road- this route runs through the town of Cavendish, along the Black River with plenty of trout fishing opportunities.
