About Wisconsin

Wisconsin is located in the Midwest between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River. The varied landscape of Wisconsin and the more than 10,000 lakes in the north make the state a popular destination for outdoor recreation with water sports, hunting, skiing, ice fishing and snowmobiling. In the north you have the Lake Superior Lowlands and south of that the Northern Highland with massive forests and thousands of small glacial lakes. In the Central Plain you find farmland as well as unique sandstone formations like the Dells of the Wisconsin River. In the southwester the Western Upland is a rugged landscape with a mix of forest and farmland.
