About Alofi

Alofi is the capital of the small South Pacific island of  Niue. With a population of about 750 it is a one of the smallest capitals in the world, and really is just a long street along the coast. It is located at the centre of Alofi Bay near the break in the coral reef that surrounds Niue.

  • Enjoy the warm tropical waters with its rich marine live and go snorkeling, diving between the bright corals. Niues’ water’s have some of the very best visibility in the world (up to 50-70 m!). Diving is a spectacular encounter with turtles, dolphins, snakes and in season even whales.
  • Go fishing on spectacular big game fish like Wahoo, Tuna and Marlin.
  • There are stunning in-shore swimming areas like Matapa Chasm & Limu
  • See some of the most exciting caves in the South Pacific. Some of the caves you can walk to yourself, but for the best ones you’ll need a guide.
  • Explore the rainforest and see the flocks of butterflies.
  • Visit Togo Chasm and explore the cave leading to the open thundering ocean.
  • See the Huvalu Forest Conservation Area-the pristine tropical rainforest that covers 20% of Niue's land area.
