About Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea is a very diverse country, with most people living in rural areas with few or no facilities. Many tribes live in the isolated mountainous interior and have little contact with the outside world in a non-monetarised culture. More then 700 native languages still exist today. Most of the total land area is geographically very diverse, extremely rugged and very difficult to travel, with highland regions and dense rainforests in the lowland and coastal regions. Around the Chambri Lakes many species of birds can be found that are typical for Papua New Guinea like egrets, pied herons and kingfishers.
