About Brazil
Brazil is South America's biggest and most influential country and takes up almost half the continent. It is characterized by the extensive low-lying Amazon Rainforest in the north, and a more open terrain of hills and (low) mountains to the south, home to most of Brazil's population. Along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean are several mountain ranges reaching roughly 2,900m high. The highest peak is the Pico da Neblina at 3,014 m, in Guiana's highlands.
Rio de Janeiro famous for its Christ statue, exuberant cultural life and highly developed beach culture is infected with the beat of Brazilian music. Every year the carnival draws together the world's largest samba parade.
