About Paraguay
Paraguay is divided by the Paraguay River into two contrasting regions, with in the west the scarsely populated Gran Chaco, a destination for enthusiastical ecotourists with a rich habitat for wildlife in its plains, swamps and forests, and in the east a landscape with rolling hills and grassy plains. Paraguay is perhaps best known for its countless waterfalls, like the Iguazu Falls or the Guaira Falls, that are really worth a visit.
Asunción is the capital of Paraguay and one of the oldest cities in South America, a city founded in 1537 by the Spanish from where the colonial expeditions founded other cities.
Paraguay has not really attracted much tourism up till now, and hence travellers should not expect a well developed infrastructure.
