Thailand, also known as Siam has become a magnet for travelers. The diversity of Thailand provides for a variety of activities. Then there is Bangkok, undoubtedly one of Asia's most exciting cities with magnificent sites such as the Grand Palace, the green jade palace temple housing the Emerald Buddha, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha with its impressive statue of the deity and the famous Floating Market.

In Thailand sixty-two million people are practising Theravada Buddhists. The king is a highly respected figure across his nation.Thai are a very friendly people. The standard greeting in Thailand is a prayer-like gesture called the wai.
National holidays: the King's Birthday, December 5 is celebrated as Father's Day and the Queen's Birthday, August 12 is Mother's Day.
The most fun holiday is undoubtedly Songkran, the Thai New Year celebrated sometime in April, officially April 13th to 15th. Songkran is celebrated by throwing water at people for three straight days. Another holiday of interest is Loy Krathong, on the first full moon day in November, when people head to rivers, lakes and even hotel swimming pools to float flower and candle-laden banana-leaf floats called krathong. According to tradition, if you make a wish when you set down your krathong and it floats out of sight before the candle burns out, your wish will come true.

Near Kanchanaburi is the Tiger Temple wich you probably know from Animal Planet. Its amazing to sit next to a real life tiger and petting them.
